About Me

A B O U T

Hello, my name is Jen Mininger, and here I am with excitement and fear…with reluctance and confidence… oddly, at the same time.... but, I am here!
I am here to invite you to journey with me.
I am here to share words and pictures from my story and from my heart...words that have encouraged and strengthened me.
I am here to encourage you with the encouragement that I have received....AND...I am here to capture YOUR HEART and YOUR STORY!
But first.... you just might want to get to know a bit about me!!!

M Y    S T O R Y

1. I follow Jesus, that’s not a social media “follow”- that’s a heart thing, and if you don’t know about this kind of “follow” then contact me and I can share more with you. Or, you can get a taste of it here and there as you browse the Layered Photography Blog or checkout my recent project, Restorable.

2. My husband, Korey, and I honored our 20th anniversary back in April, 2018 by visiting a Dude Ranch in Oregon, and the Pacific Ocean! (Yay!) We will be the first to tell you that marriage has its highs and lows. Our marriage knows pain, it also knows joy and fun. Don’t forget sorrow and grief and all kinds of stuff that well, lets just say this - friend, my HOPE is that you will be viewing this space here and get to see that my marriage knows and will know healing and redemption! Want to see my personal Layered Photography project that was created from our anniversary trip? Click here.

3. We have 5 kids and we think that they are each uniquely amazing! I can hardly believe that our youngest is already 10 and somehow, our oldest is 18! You will learn that I’m a mom through some of my layered projects and social media posts, but I try to be careful to not personally embarrass or disrespect my kids by showing stuff about them that they might not feel comfortable with. I do my best to ask for their permission, after all, that’s what we are teaching them to do for others.

4.  I am a certified Biblical Life Coach.
I put this one in BOLD, because I don't want you to miss this piece of "Jen info"... so, here ya go!
Truth be told.. I am simply hopping on here to take 2 minutes to update my website... but the reality is, I probably need to take several hours to fully share with you what God has me doing with this lil' business.
Through various personal and professional circumstances, this photography business has morphed into a therapeutic business.  I have learned that God wants to use me as I share my words, heart and photos through my blog, podcast, retreats.. AND.. as I sit across from women just like you, for Life Coaching Sessions.
I've got soooo very much to say about this, but for now.. I think I'll just let ya know that getting to serve women as a Biblical Life Coach has brought so much joy and LIFE to my heart.  If you are interested in learning to see if Life Coaching is a fit for you, then please email me at Jen@layeredphotography.com.  I would be happy to set up a free phone date with you so that you can discern if coaching with me is a fit for you!

5. Photographer. I put this in bold, cause maybe that’s all you really need to know today! But, I put it as #5, because it helps me keep perspective! At age 14 I started working for a photographer who mentored me in the basics of composition and 35 mm film cameras. I booked my first small wedding at age 18 and did a pretty bad job… Now, after many years of experience and multiple photography courses, I get to capture families, couples and individuals with confidence that they will cherish their portraits! You guys, photography is SO MUCH FUN for me. It enriches me to create portraits that mean so much to you! If your looking for further description and sample work, then please check out my samples & services.

The random things.
People always seem to have something to say about coffee... So, I love coffee, but chose to quit a few years ago. That was interesting! But now I enjoy it as an occasional yummy treat (especially with Ghee and cinnamon, or maybe some steamed raw milk).
I like creating things, working with my hands... I’m kind of into watercolor painting right now, and I would like to improve hand lettering.  Oh, and it is still my goal to learn to play the ukulele. I am so much like my Dad and many ways... but had to say goodbye to him just about six years ago.

Gardening/composting/fresh food/sourdough… LOVE it all! If I could, I would have a couple of cows and sheep, but hey, our chickens are pretty cool! I love clothesline laundry and pretty much anything outside. An outdoor kitchen would be nice, since the kitchen is where I spend most of my time

Inspiring other women - you’ll probably discover that is a God-given passion inside of me too!
 Computer time annoys me.
I’m really bad at English... Like fragmented and run-on sentences and stuff… Sorry, that's a lot of random!
But... Basically, I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to create powerful and meaningful images and words while living my childhood dream of being a wife and a stay at home mom.  Every day is an opportunity for me to share my broken form of true love inside AND outside of my home!

OK.....enough “About Me"....right?!
Maybe your ready to tell me about YOU.  I’d love to hear what brought you here and I would be so grateful to hear what encouraged YOU! Or Maybe you'd like to learn more about Layered Photography, the Restorable Retreat or Life Coaching?   In any case, click here and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Layered Photography

“Layered Photography” is a title that I use to describe pictures that capture the deeper layers of a person - their heart, their story, their journey, their recovery, their revelations. Its not just a flat image that you see, rather, it is a deep and meaningful photo that speaks meaning, story, transformation and even healing into our hearts. Friend, I am blown away at the impact this has… so much so, that I originally considered titling the process “Photo Therapy," as it sure has been a powerful creative therapy for my heart as well as others’ hearts!

I absolutely love that I can offer someone hope and encouragement through what I’ve been given! So, here I am in this space, sharing some of my personal layered photography projects, as well as offering this form of therapy for your heart.

May you know that you are safe here.
